Automation at Gluetex
We show the entire process from the UI sketch to the finished control system in two weeks—transparently documented, including all technical errors and hardware problems.
November 20, November :
The order included the hardware integration of heating elements and precision cutting units for a production line for special adhesive tapes and the development of completely new control software customized to the customer's needs, which connects our winder to the customer's hardware.
November 21, November :
Together with Glutex, we then planned the user interface live in a video call on a Miro board. Here, we adapted our standard elements to the customer's requirements and worked together to customize the new layout, which is tailored precisely to the customer's way of working.
November 22, November :
Instead of just programming, we built a test dummy of the system. Using SSR relays, stepper motors, and real temperature sensors, we simulate everything directly on site. This allowed us to check the interaction between the software and electronics right from the start.
November 24, November :
Modular expansion of the software. Adjustment of motor behavior settings depending on the values of the winder, all directly in the software.
November 25, November :
At Gluetex's request, we have added a quality control element to the dashboard. Here, bars show live whether production values (e.g., temperature) are within the defined min/max range.
November 27, November :
We tested the sensors and PID controllers (e.g., using a hot air dryer). In doing so, we identified and rectified a number of disruptive factors such as signal noise and cabling errors. Initially, we had major problems with the electrical system, but we are confident that this will become easier with future orders.
November 28, November :
Our first full version now combines the control of all heaters, motors, and quality control in a central dashboard. This means that the software is ready for use on the final Gluetex hardware.
