From New Fidelity to EtherCAT: Prof. Dr. Kupnik (TU Darmstadt) Visits Us to Discuss Joint Projects and Theses

On March 13, we had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Dr. Mario Kupnik and Alex Altmann to our facility in Darmstadt. This awesome get-together was arranged and organized by YouTuber Jan Wegener (Jantec3d), who conveniently has his studio right here on our campus—a huge thank you for that right off the bat! It was a fantastic day dedicated entirely to fostering exchange between cutting-edge university research and our dynamic hardware and software ecosystem.

Startup Tour of the Schenk Industrial Park

Together with Jan, we took the opportunity not only to show our guests our own QiTech and Jan’s YouTube studio, but also to give them a quick tour of the rest of the startup ecosystem here in the industrial park. Of course, we couldn’t miss a stop at our neighbors’: an exciting exchange with Christopher Helmke and the team at New Fidelity, who are working right next door on impressive high-end speaker development. It’s always cool to show just how much concentrated innovative power comes together here in such a small space!

Research, bachelor's theses, and collaborative projects

The highlight of the visit was an open and very productive discussion about our future collaboration. We had an in-depth discussion about current opportunities for cooperation in the field of applied research.

What’s especially great for our team is that we’ve come up with concrete ideas for joint bachelor’s thesis projects. This allows our student employees to directly link their academic studies at the university with hands-on, in-depth tech projects (such as EtherCAT integrations and modern machine control) here at our company. It’s a true win-win situation.

Thanks again to Jan (Jantec3d) for the great organization, and to Prof. Dr. Kupnik and Alex Altmann for their time, the open dialogue, and the inspiring ideas. We’re really looking forward to our next steps and projects together!

Milan von dem Bussche

Milan has the overview of our projects (at least he pretends to). Developing new machines while doing something for the environment excites him. At QiTech Industries Milan designs and develops our machines and manages the finances (at least he does his best).
