From the Garage to the Industrial Production Line
Lara Inia Müller explains how we initially shredded plastic waste with a blender and printed cell phone cases. Today, our facility in Darmstadt features Extruder, cooling lines, laser measurement, and Winder —along with software that ties it all together. More than 100 machines in five years, with shipments to 14 countries from the United States to South Korea. And our winding technology is no longer used “just” for filament, but is also utilized, for example, in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries or for medical tubing.
One Brain for All Our Machines
We code in Rust. The software controls industrial components independently of the manufacturer—not tied to any specific brand, nor to rigid industrial control systems. The machines communicate with one another. The laser maintains the diameter, and the Winder keeps pace. One line, one system.
Our proprietary software is modular and scalable. It is designed to enable the use of new technologies, such as AI, in mechanical engineering: New control modules should be able to write and test themselves—without expensive licensing fees or dependencies on specific manufacturers, and with greater flexibility than in traditional PLC environments.
